American Motors Corporation was formed in 1954. Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and Hudson Motor Car Company came together in what was then the largest corporate merger in United States history to form American Motors Corporation. AMC dominated the automobile industry, developing subcompact, compact, crossover, mid-size and full-size models. Bought out by Chrysler in March of 1987, AMC was not soon forgotten. With models such as the AMC Eagle and the AMC Concord, the brand is still well known around the world. The brand was succeeded by Eagle in 1988.
